A Floridian by birth, Angie considers herself "nearly native" to Boone after having fallen in love with the area during a weekend trip in 1984 and a subsequent relocation a year later.  With the exception of a brief hiatus in Colorado to attain her Masters of Science in Nursing, Angie has been working in, living in, and caring for the Boone area for 23 years.  Her extensive resume includes service as both a Medical Surgical, Intensive Care, and Emergency Department Staff Nurse for the Watauga Medical Center.  More recently, Angie has served as a Family Nurse Practitioner in Boone at the Watauga Medical Center, at Hudson Primary Care, and at the medical practice of Dr. Hank Clay Jr.

Gonder is credentialed and certified in the following areas:

Credentials:                                                                 Certifications:
Nationally Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (ANCC)      Advanced Cardiac Life Support
Registered Nurse                                                          Pediatric Advanced Life Support
Advanced Practice Nurse                                               Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum
DEA License for NC                                                      Mobile Intensive Care Nurse

Accolades:
Sigma Theta Tau International - Honor Society of Nursing, inducted 12/5/01.

Personally, Angie "loves the Boone area and all it affords me - from my play time outdoors hiking and kayaking, to watching Appalachian State sports."  Perhaps the most intriguing aspects of her character, however, result from life-threatening injuries she sustained in 1996 after being thrown from an automobile.  After enduring spinal surgery and months of rehab, Angie re-dedicated herself to the care of others and her education - eventually earning her Master's Degree to become a Family Nurse Practitioner.  After practicing in several local clinics, Boone Urgent Care now allows Gonder to head up her own care facility and "pay it forward" to the community that has given her so much.

"The people here are fantastic and it is as much an honor as a privilege to be able to care for their health needs", she states.
